How we test

We make ZoomCap and we write comparisons that include it. This page is how we try to make those comparisons worth trusting anyway.

The conflict of interest, stated plainly

Every comparison on this blog is written by the team that sells ZoomCap. We benefit when you pick it. Rather than hide that, every post opens with a disclosure, and the rules below exist so you can check our claims instead of taking our word for them.

Prices

  • Every price comes from the vendor's own pricing or download page, not from another blog.
  • Each post shows the date prices were last checked. Current check: September 29, 2026.
  • When we compare costs over time, we use the cheapest plan that removes watermarks and export limits, and we show the arithmetic (for example, a $108-a-year plan is $324 over three years).
  • If a vendor's page was unavailable or unclear, we say “unverified” instead of guessing.

What “tested” means here

We separate three levels of evidence and label which one a claim rests on:

  • Tested by us: we installed or opened the tool and recorded with it, or ran the exact command we print. ZoomCap, which we build and use daily, is always in this group; other tools are only when the post says so.
  • From the vendor: taken from the tool's own documentation, pricing page or changelog, because we did not have the platform or a paid licence to test it.
  • Unverified: reported elsewhere but not confirmed on the vendor's site. We avoid these, and mark them when we can't.

How we treat ZoomCap in a comparison

  • Other tools are named as the best pick wherever they are better, including free ones.
  • ZoomCap's limits are listed on every post: no Windows CLI, no motion blur, whole-video speed only, automatic zoom only on CLI recordings, video-only recording on Linux, and no hosted share links.
  • “Cheapest” always means cheapest among the paid tools we checked, and never ignores free software.
  • No adjectives without a number, a limit or a comparison behind them.

No paid placements

No vendor pays to be included, ranked or left out, and this site has no affiliate links. ZoomCap earns money only from its own licences.

Corrections

Prices and features change. If something here is out of date or wrong, including about ZoomCap, tell us. We fix it, update the post's “Updated” date, and note what changed.
