Privacy Policy

The short version
Your recordings never leave your machine. ZoomCap records, edits, and encodes video locally — the product has no upload path for your footage. What we do handle is the minimum needed to run accounts and licensing: your email address and your payment status. That's the whole story; the rest of this page is the detail.
What stays on your machine
- Recordings and exports. The CLI saves to
~/Movies/ZoomCapon your Mac and hands files to the editor over localhost. Editing and encoding run in your browser against local files. Nothing is transmitted to us or anyone else. - Keystrokes. To drive the typing-zoom feature, ZoomCap records only the timing of keystrokes — never which keys were pressed. Key contents are not captured and not written to disk, so a recording cannot leak what you typed.
- Editor state. Project settings and edit state are stored in your browser's local storage on your device.
What we collect, and why
- Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and an account identifier. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication (Google sign-in or email and password).
- License and payment status. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our payment provider. We never see or store your card details — we store only whether your account has an active license or subscription, so the product can unlock paid features.
- Support email. If you email us, we have your email and what you wrote, which we use to help you and for nothing else.
What we don't do
- No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties for their marketing.
- No advertising trackers on this site.
- No access to your recordings — structurally, not just by policy.
Third-party services we rely on
Google Firebase (authentication and license records), Dodo Payments (payment processing), and our hosting provider (serving this website). Each processes only what's needed for its function, under its own privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
Account and license records are kept while your account exists. To delete your account and its data, contact us from the email on the account and we'll remove it. Recordings are on your machine — deleting them is entirely in your hands, as it should be.
Changes
